I have been loyal to the old Mirro with a similar shape to the bottom but then going straight up for decades; I just did head to head tests: With 4 Tab. oil, 1/2c popcorn The Atom popper made 3.5 qt.'s and the old Mirro 3.0 quarts. There might be a few less un-popped one's in the Atom. With salt and nutritional yeast I could not tell the difference in flavor. The Mirro was clearly easier to pour out of into a 4 qt. mixing bowl, the Atom needed a 6 Qt. to be easy to pour into (just too wide at the top) as the only way it was not equal or superior to the Mirro.

Mom gave all of the married kids 4 of us an Atom Pop for Christmas in 1979. I am the only one who still has theirs. The handles are black but it still pops the best corn. We put Ranch salad power on our corn, season salt or just plain. Beats Microwave any day. My grandkids love it. I'll be buying Atom Poppers for Christmas next year now that I know they are still being made. Pop Corn --the healthy snack.

We bought ours down from Maine when we moved to Florida 15 years ago and still use it regularly. Fills bowls with popcorn and the kitchen with a good popcorn smell! It must be about 25 years old. The handles are starting to turn brown with scortched wood.

My wife has the Atom Pop that her parents got for their wedding gift over 35 years ago. It no longer has the handles and every 6 months or so I have to pound the bottom flat and reshape the lid. We make popcorn at least once a week and it is the absolutely best popcorn ever. We even still have the small measuring cup after all these years.

This is the most wonderful popcorn popper ever made! My mother-in-law gave us one years ago, probably 20 years ago and still use it all the time. Popcorn pops faster than microwave and tastes so much better. I highly recommend it.
