1911 Popcorn Machine Highlights

Resembling the antique street-vendor popcorn makers of yesterday, the 1911 Popcorn Machine will certainly become a nostalgic centerpiece you'll be proud to have in your home theater or game room. Manufactured in Iowa, the 1911 series are built to last with high-quality and modern innovations like side hinged, anodized aluminum kettles for quick clean up and efficient heating as well as extruded side post construction for superior structural integrity. This popper is designed to commercial specifications to make popcorn quickly, crisply and with no excess unpopped kernels.

With a 3-year Manufacturer's Warranty, the 1911 Popcorn Machine is an impressive popcorn machine for both home or commercial use.

So, is the Paragon 1911 Popcorn Machine Worth the Price?

There are lower-end and less expensive alternatives for a home popcorn machine. While these poppers can meet the budget for many homes, the quality and durability of those units will not be up to the commercial-grade standards of the 1911 Popcorn Machine. Also, aesthetically, the 1911 series can be considered a highly decorative addition to your home theater or game room. Most of the other machines tend to have a utilitarian look with splashes of color. If quality construction and creating a magical movie-theater experience in the home are important to you, then you should be happy with this purchase.

The old fashion styling of the Paragon 1911 Popcorn Machine draws attention. For commercial or fundraising use, that attention could mean more sales.

For commercial popcorn machine uses, the 1911 popcorn maker is well worth the cost. It's built to commercial standards and should stand up to a fair amount of usage. Additionally, being American made, parts can be easier to come by. The old-fashion, antique look will be a great attention getter, and could help increase popcorn sales for churches, schools and other fundraising events.

Let's take a look at some of the top features of the 1911 Popcorn Machine.

Even Heat Conduction = Better Popping Capability with Less Unpopped Kernels

Paragon popcorn machines tend to have popping efficiency down to a science. Each of the 1911 series machines feature  a high wattage, which can heat the popcorn kettle quickly. More importantly, the 1911 popcorn machine kettles are made of anodized aluminum. Anodized aluminum conducts heat evenly and has one of the highest heat transfer rates used in cookware. Even heating conducting means better popping capability and efficient power usage.

Quality Materials and Smart Construction = Quick and Efficient Cleaning

An easy clean up would make owning a popcorn machine a more enjoyable experience. Paragon tackles this challenge in several ways:

  • Anodized Aluminum Kettle: The anodizing process helps to make the kettle non-stick and scratch-resistant. It can easily be cleaned with a wipe of a damp cloth.
  • Side-hinged Kettle: Kettle conveniently swings down and to the side for easy access to all of the parts of the kettle.
  • Stainless Steel Foodzone: Stainless steel bottom trays and drop doors are easily removed for simple cleaning with a mild detergent (or dishwasher).
  • Tempered Glass Panels: Both sides and back can be cleaned with a standard glass cleaner.

Warming Deck and Old Maid Drawer: Differences between 1911 Popcorn Machine Sizes

4 oz Popcorn Machine

Built-In Warming Deck: The 4 oz 1911 Popcorn Machine does not feature a warming deck. This is actually a rare feature with most 4 oz machines. Given the smaller amount of popcorn popped (just over a microwave popcorn portion), the use of a warmer probably wouldn't be necessary. Most families (even a couple of individuals) would probably consume the amount of popcorn this popper makes in a single setting.

Old Maid Drawer:  The 4 oz 1911 Popcorn Machine does not have a drawer to collect unpopped kernels. This is probably due to size constraints. Placing paper towels at the bottom of the popper could help in collecting these old maids.

6 oz Popcorn Machine

Built-In Warming Deck: Unlike the 4 oz popper, the 6 oz popcorn machine features a built-in 50-watt warming element below the bottom tray. It's designed to keep the whole cabinet warm and the popcorn crispy.

Old Maid Drawer: Again, unlike the 4 oz popper, the 6 oz 1911 Popcorn Machine features an old maid drawer built into base of the popper. Small holes in the base allows unpopped kernels to fall through to the drawer. The drawer is simple to remove and empty.

8 oz Popcorn Machine

Built-In Warming Deck: Like the 6 oz, the 8 oz popcorn machine features a built-in 50-watt warming element below the bottom tray. It's designed to keep the whole cabinet warm and the popcorn crispy.

Old Maid Drawer: And, like the 6 oz, the 8 oz 1911 Popcorn Machine features an old maid drawer built into base of the popper. Small holes in the base allows unpopped kernels to fall through to the drawer. The drawer is simple to remove and empty.

Paragon also builds popcorn carts to fit the 4 oz, 6 oz and 8 oz machines. We've always recommended purchasing popcorn machines and carts separately. Popcorn makers with attached carts can present storage challenges.
